- Bagan sunset, Myanmar
(The beautiful and much-anticipated sunset scene of old Bagan is brought to life from atop the Shwe San Daw pagoda. Hundreds swarmed the pagoda early to watch the many shades of this plains, all awe-struck by its beauty. Even though it wasn't the most spectacular sunset, every photo taken is different, with each passing minute, in all its 24Mpixel glory. And what about those air-balloons over Bagan..what a breathtaking sight it must be from up there. Watch the 2 videos below and feel the difference..Bagan has a magical feel to it!)

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #199 - Bagan, Myanmar
1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #199
- Bagan, Myanmar
(Can this be the most surprising and peaceful place on earth? Over 2000 pagodas and temples spread across Old Bagan - it is another out-of-this-world feeling when one arrives, just like Machu Picchu. The history of this place dates back to 9th century when it was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom. So why so many pagodas/stupas? Turns out, it's the people's way of being holy and good by building a place of worship - there were over 10,000 of these over 100 sq km at the height of this empire. Each larger pagoda is an architectural masterpiece in itself. What an amazing place to visit! Catch the video below)Wednesday, February 04, 2015
1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #198 - Bagan Flight, Myanmar
1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #198
- Flight to Bagan, Myanmar
(The domestic airport in Yangon at 5am is a sight to behold when empty..it is truly an airport that one would see in the 60's, with baggage being towed by hand, and propeller planes. On arrival at Bagan airport without any hotel advanced booking, we took a chance by asking the taxi driver to recommend a place to stay, and goodness, what a Blazing Hotel it turned out to be! We just loved the stone-walls and the totally retro look-and-feel..we were more than happy to pay the U$72 for the night)

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #197
- Aung San Suu Kyi's House, Yangon, Myanmar

(The movie "The Lady" came to mind, as we walked up to view the home where Aung San Suu Kyi grew up, with his father General Aung San. She is no doubt, the most iconic Asian freedom fighter, other than Gandhi. The t-shirt sold along the streets says it best, "Freedom from Fear". This Nobel Prize winner is still fighting to overturn laws that prevent her from running as President of Myanmar..will it happen in her lifetime?)
