- Arctic Circle at Kiruna, Sweden
(It was an icy world we flew into - Kiruna, Sweden - we have reached the Arctic Circle, the 2nd leg of our Polar-Everest White Triangle! The Kiruna airport thermometer showed -12C, and when we trudged through heavy snow to get to our hotel, we realised that this is a different cold. This 20,000 people town surprised us - we thought it would be smaller. But walking around town the next day, there was plenty of beauty all around, including the show-covered trees of a nearby forest. The Arctic Eden Best Western Hotel we stayed in gave us an easy base to enjoy everything arctic here)
