- El Calafate, Patagonia
(El Calafate, a small town of 7000 people, is the gateway into the Los Glaciares National Park, with the Perito Moreno Glacier being the main attraction for us. The town sits along the huge 160km long Lake Argentino in this Patagonia region - a semi-desert area shared by both Argentina and Chile. Going more south and one will end up at the southern most tip on Earth, before Antartica beckons. Nice cool temperature here at 10-15C - a nice change from Buenos Aires)
