- Mekong riverside market, Vientiane, Laos
(Our 1st visit to Laos, the Land of a Million Elephants, began right here at the riverside market, with the mighty Mekong river just a stone's throw away. Being a Saturday, the place was buzzing, with zumba exercises and music thumping on both ends of this viewing steps. Food and fruit stalls aligned both sides of this market, with chargrilled sweet corn going for a mere 5000kip each - S$0.90. We were here all 4 nights, just to get our dinners and soak up the vibes. It was a glowing intro of Vientiane for us, the setting sun giving this city a golden hue. Sabaidee, Vientiane!)
