- Mt Kilimanjaro, Kenya
(Mt Kilimanjaro - the highest mountain in the continent of Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. And I am here, beside it. Well, kind of - 20kms away, perhaps. We were not planning to climb it, although the thought did cross hubby's mind. But having seen Mt Everest, seeing this one is a bucketlist item too, but the desire to climb it or get to its basecamp was not as high. At 5895m. it is slightly higher than the Everest Base Camp we climbed up to in Sept last year, but it sure is a beauty. Seeing it so clearly not just once, but twice..we were elated. Usually covered by thick clouds this time of the year, we can count ourselves very lucky. Seeing it with elephants grazing nearby under a bright morning sun - it was a wow-moment for us! - see timelapse vdo below)
