1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #305 - Colosseum on New Year's Day, Rome

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #305

- Colosseum on New Year's Day, Rome

(Is it not fitting that I should start the new year of 2016AD in front of the biggest amphitheatre from the Roman times, completed for 80,000 people and that has stood since 0080AD, over 1900years ago? How much longer will this amazing structure continue to wow visitors from all over the world - look at all the holes on its pillars. We took another "Before & After" photo at the exact same spot to compare our own aging process - and it looks like the Colosseum will definitely outlive us! Being New Year's Day, it was closed to the public. But it gave us the rare opportunity to take some striking landscape photos all around it. May it stand forever, for all of humanity to savour)
