1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #327 - North side, Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #327

- North side, Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia

(From the north side of Perito Moreno Glacier, one can see its full beauty and its massive 30km length, 5km wide mouth or terminus. We were literally 5 days old from the day the last rupture of the dam happened, ie the collapse of the ice wall which allowed water from one side of the lake to rush into the main Lake Argentino - see 2nd photo + video. Imagine if we were there to see this ice collapsing on the same day, which happens once every 10 years or so - see last photo, showing the rupture, caught on camera. This North-side viewing area is so well-designed for walking alongside the glacier, with wooden pathways that stretched over 3 kilometres. Perito Moreno Glacier - I hiked you, and I will never forget you!)
