1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #400 - Mollard Brasserie, Paris

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #400

- Mollard Brasserie, Paris

(We have avoided fine dining here over the past 3 trips here - mainly because we were spoilt for choice with all the excellent pastries and very good street food. This time, we walked into Mollard Brasserie, opposite the St Lazare train station, to give ourselves a treat prior to hopping onto the plane. And we were not disappointed. The restaurant dates back to 1890 - yes, 1800s, with ornate glass panels and chandeliers everywhere. All that was said about snooty French waiters was incorrect - ours gave us attentive and respectful service, with good English to boot. The oysters were slurpingly fresh, the steak done nicely with a lovely grilled aroma, and capping off the meal were our crème caramel and grand marnier crepes. For 100euro for 2, it's good value - just look at the blue stained glass ceiling)
