1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #402 - Tianmen Mountain, Hunan, China

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #402

- Tianmen Mountain, Hunan, China

(Everything here in China seemed longer or higher. The Tianmen Mountain takes 2 awards for the longest cable car ride, 7.3km long, to get to the mountain top area, as well as the road with the sharpest 99 bends on the road leading up to it (see video below). We took the cable car up, and the bus ride down - and on both occasions, the incessant rain and thick mist took away our enjoyment. However, the cliff-face walkway was fun, even on this misty day, with sections of it over clear glass, looking into the abyss. The highlight of this day was the Tianmen or Heaven's Gate, a natural hole in the mountain of over 130m in height. Men in wingsuits have glided into this amazing-looking hole into the heavens. But the Heavens didn't open up for us to see inside of it, though. Next time then.)
