1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #359 - Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Alaska

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #359

- Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Alaska

(The Mendenhall Glacier required us to hike for 20min to get to it. But this trek was both pleasant and informational, as the guide showed us the sites where this retreating glacier was last there - it has retreated over 2.5km since 1958. The Nugget Waterfall beside it made it look extra scenic. With a piece of the crystal ice melt in hand, I have now held two 300year-old pieces of ice from both the Northern and Southern hemispheres within 3 months. That's quite a record for someone who has not even seen a glacier before, let alone, holding such old glacial ice on her hands)
