1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #429 - Seal Island, Capetown

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #429

- Seal Island, Capetown

(After a long 6pm-4am sleep, we were up for new Sth African adventures on our 2nd day here..but, we were shut out of the Table Mountains bcoz it was closed due to strong winds. We then hop on a taxi to the Clock Tower to buy a ferry ticket to Robben Island..and again, tickets were sold out. Thankfully, we regrouped and took the red bus CitySightseeing tour, landed at this seaside corner called Hout Bay and hopped onto the ferry that took us to Seal Island. The island was a proper paradise for this huge colony of these Cape fur seals, which have multiplied in numbers with no shark predators around due to the sea kelps surrounding it. A U$70m unsalvageable shipwreck rounded out our tour - it was a good tour for us, but we sure didn't expect Capetown to be this hot in late-April, 35C!)
