1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #534 - Ice Cave Hike, Iceland
1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #534
(The ice cave was cool, but the name for it is..well, not so cool - Hvannadalshnukur - we can't even pronounce it! Is this the name of the volcano, the mountain here, or the ice cave area itself, we dare not ask the guide? Nevertheless, we were transported there inside a massive super-truck, giving us some comfort from the bumpy terrain. We put on our light crampons and hiked out to it carefully, with gorgeous views all around. The ice-cave itself gave out several shades of blue and brown on our 2 different cameras - both looked unreal, like being wrapped inside a shinny cone. What an experience, one that is very different to the glacier cave in Chamonix)
