- Reindeer sleigh and Sami Village, Lappland, Kiruna
(The indigenous people here in northern Sweden, the Sami people, showed us a big slice of their culture when we visited them, just 20minutes from Kiruna by car. Par, the Sami leader, owns a 30-reindeer farm here and they still uproot themselves and their lavvu tents each summer to bring their reindeer herd to the mountains some 40km away. But our real fun began when he roped 2 reindeers, harness one to a sleigh and gave me a ride on it - all by myself! It even turned out to be a mini-reindeer race around his far, against another reindeer - see video below. So much authentic fun, and certainly an experience of a lifetime, learning about the Sami people and their lovable reindeers )
